Committees are frequently major components of strategic decision making. Using a consultative style (asking others for their opinions but having one individual responsible for making the final decision) or using team consensus (allowing the team to make the decision) are both viable options. In either case, using a team is the best way to ensure that range and accuracy are included, buy-in is created, and relationships are established prior to the actual decision choice.
GD enables each stakeholder within the decision process (as determined by project manager) to have their inputs weighted, such that some stakeholders may have a higher weighting than others – this can be important when certain departments to a decision have greater knowledge, responsibility or accountability.
